Otoniel Tarin
“El Grande”
Otoniel was born in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico. Dreaming of a better life, he decided to migrate to the United States at the age of sixteen. His journey began in 1976 in Santa Ana, where he worked alongside his uncle Mundo at “Mundo’s Restaurant.” He started by washing dishes and gradually worked his way up to becoming a chef, honing his skills in crafting the finest Mexican dishes.
In time, Otoniel carried these skills forward and chose to open his own restaurant after his uncle Mundo retired. In 1989, he founded Taqueria Los Grandes with a mission to serve high-quality meals using the freshest ingredients—from top-notch meats to his signature picante salsa de aceite.
Otoniel found a deep passion for cooking and running his business, and Taqueria Los Grandes became an iconic destination for authentic Mexican cuisine in the heart of Santa Ana. Through his dedication, he built lasting relationships with customers, serving them with loyalty and respect. Many have returned again and again for the delicious meals Taqueria Los Grandes continues to offer today—a true testament to his legacy.
